Due to the destruction and turmoil left in Cocodrie, La by hurricane Gustav, the FLW redfish series event scheduled for Sept. 25th - 27th has been moved to Venice, La. The dates have remained the same, only the venue has changed.
Team Champion/Brown will be heading down Tues. Sept. 23rd to prepare for the tournament. The limited time we have to prefish and the likely water condition changes created by 2 hurricanes within 2 weeks around the area, have us concerned. But, following a 16th place finish in Grand Isle one month ago, if the fish and the pattern we were on hold, then the shortened scout time may not be that large of a factor. (We hope!) Sometimes you just have to go fish and let the chips fall where they may.
As we head down for this event our minds are not on fishing alone. We have been fortunate to become friends with competing anglers on the tours. Many of these men and there families live on the coast. So, as the tournament goes on, some anglers are left cleaning up and picking up the pieces from recent hurricane damage instead of fishing. Fishing, especially tournament fishing, for most of us is important, but is easily prioritized and put into perspective when we least expect it. So, count your blessings and cherish your family everyday. Our thoughts and prayers to all those effected by this hurricane season.
